Preventing Flooding

As the Ditch Authority since 1959, we maintain a 135-mile ditch system to balance drainage and flooding to protect properties.

We’ve prevented significant or unanticipated localized flood damages due to effective planning, monitoring, maintenance, and collaboration with our partners. 

We have a permitting program so construction projects don’t inadvertently flood properties now or in future.

And, we provide customized floodplain modeling for our cities to use in their flood prevention work.

Ditch Repair Activities

Activities include preventing obstructions through excavation, tree work, and bank stabilizations.

Ditch Inspections

We inspect 20% in detail of our 135-miles of ditches, plus other stormwater infrastructure.
